Evolved kayak deck storage system is improved and streamlined, featuring an industry changing Deckhand system.

Taipei, June 25th, 2022: Gearlab Outdoors has proved once more that it is at the cutting-edge of innovation when it comes to providing solutions for the modern sea kayaker and outdoorsman as it brings to market its latest creation, the Deck Pod 2. Building on the success of Gearlab’s original deck bag, the Deck Pod 2 aims to add even more functionality, convenience and thoughtfulness to the new storage system with this refined, elegant deck pod.
Within its sleek, efficient profile the Deck Pod 2 contains a multitude of functionality. It fastens quickly and securely to any kayak deck thanks to the all-new, patent pending Deckhand system, the latest creation from the award-winning designers and engineers at Gearlab Outdoors. Powerful spring-loaded “hands and teeth” grip the decklines of the kayak providing a steadfast, unassailable hold that will stand up to even the most extreme conditions.
The Deck Pod itself features a roomy 6L central compartment which is perfect for stowing a hydration bladder or water bottles, snacks and other items the sea kayaker may want on hand. A new bungee strap design enables quick access with minimal fuss, while a hidden pocket provides an intuitive hose access for hydration bladders. Specially designed side pockets are perfect places to stow a bilge pump, paddle float or extra water bottles (*and the innovative new lock and strap design allows you to grab what you need and stow it away again rapidly). A small mesh pocket on the front holds waterproof navigational or communication devices in place, conveniently placed for quick access and visibility from the cockpit.
The Deck Pod 2 is designed by kayakers for kayakers and that is immediately obvious with the many thoughtfully placed anchor points, and “daisy chains” to clip onto to ensure nothing moves about, even in waves and when rolling. The material is lightweight and tough while the straps and zips are high-quality and designed to stand up to strenuous use. Once unclipped from the kayak, a handy grab strap makes carrying it a breeze and a mesh covered drainage opening in the back means no ocean comes with you.
All this innovation and functionality is presented in a deck bag with classic Gearlab good looks, available in two colors: no-fuss “Black” and an attractive “Bluefin”, reminiscent of the deep ocean. It is available for sale now on Gearlab Outdoors website and through select retailers.
