Deck Pod 2

Great bag works awesome. Especially like the clips easy to add and take off the kayak and keeps everything together. Seems to be water resistant, but I don’t expect to be waterproof so I keep everything I want dry in a waterproof dry bag which of course one would expect for anything you take on a kayak if you want it to be dry. I really like the handle at the end to carry it. just need to watch that the little pocket in the outside, you don’t put anything inside because if you don’t it will fall out. I purchased this on Amazon so I could return it easily, but I have no plans on doing that.

I love the way it clips to the boat. So easy to attach and quickly remove. Bag is not water proof and barely water resistant. Items stored inside will get soaked so plan accordingly. Bag will hold water in the padded base making it heavier and drippy. Wanted to love it, but needs improvement.

It has a very innovative retention system that clips directly to your perimeter lines. Tightens down easily and stays extremely snug on your deck all day in all conditions. Water resistance is excellent.

I see a lot of complaints about the size and how little gear it holds, it holds a 3L bladder no problem along with snacks, pump and paddle float. Literally everything described to carry. It does it’s intended mission perfectly. I never leave shore without, love having my water close at hand. The mounting system alone is worth the purchase. Ordered my pos in July and have paddled over 500 miles without any problems from pod.

The pod is quality built. It attaches quickly and easily to the deck. The side sleeves for the pump and paddle float are perfect. The daisy chain webbing along the top allows me to attach my throw line and a couple lines for my mobile phone and GPS Unit. The material seems to be very waterproof and it uses a quality waterproof zipper. The two snap hooks inside the bag allow me to easily attach my keys so I do not loose them and whatever else I want to secure inside the bag.

However, the bag is narrow and really quite small. The bungee on top is only about 3" or so wide, and can't really accommodate much. Maybe a light jacket or such, but as it's so narrow, you really have to work to get it in there. The full length zipper allows easy access to the internal compartment, but again, it's very small. You may be able to fit one nalgene bottle in there, and nothing else. What I was most upset with however, it the lack of a hydration bladder sleeve. I thought I would have been able to use this with a hydration bladder, but a 2L bladder does not fit inside or under the bungies. It would have been extremely simple to add a hydration sleeve on the under side of this pod to keep water handy and out of the sun. I feel like they dropped the ball here.
